JUST IN- Police shut down Silverbird Galleria (Possession taken by Court Order AMCON)

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has taking over the assets of three companies belonging to the Common Sense senator, Ben Murray-Bruce and his brothers.
The assets are being seized following the failure of Senator Murray-Bruce and his brothers to settle an N11 billion loan owed Union Bank and acquired by AMCON.

The planned takeover followed the June 17 interim orders granted by Justice Cecilia Olatoregun-Ishola of the Federal High Court, Lagos, in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/790/16 – Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria & 3 Ors. v. Ben Murray Bruce & 4 Ors.
The order allows the Receiver/Manager to take possession of the said properties.
Mr. Murray Bruce and his brothers, using their companies, had between 2005 and 2007 borrowed various sums of money from Union Bank.
After they repeatedly defaulted in paying back, AMCON purchased the loan in 2011 to save the bank from collapsing.
AMCON is now seizing the assets belonging to the three companies used in securing the loan – Silverbird Productions Limited, Silverbird Showtime Limited and Silverbird Galleria Limited.
The properties include those at 133, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, Plot No 1161 (Silverbird Galleria), the plaza at Central Area Cadastral Zone AOO, Abuja, and the magnificent structure located at Abonnema Wharf Road and Abali Park in Port Harcourt City of Rivers State.

Niger Delta Avengers: President Buhari will Die if He Visits Ogoniland - Militants Warn

High member of the Niger Delta Avengers has warned the life of President Muhammadu Buhari will be in danger if he visits the Ogoniland, the oil rich area of Rivers State.

In a recording sent to IBTimes UK, a man is heard saying during a phone conversation with one of the hosts of the UK-based Radio Biafra that Buhari would be signing his death warrant by visiting the delta.
Buhari is due to visit several states in southeastern Nigeria to discuss with local leaders ways to tackle renewed violence in the area. The president’s planned visit, expected to begin on Thursday (2 June 2016) – comes amid attacks on oil pipelines blamed on the new group Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).
The attacks have partially halted oil production and forced Chevron and Royal Dutch Shell to close at least two plants.
“Buhari is trying to visit Ogoniland, but he should sign his death warrant before coming to Port Harcourt or try to visit any state of the Niger Delta community, Biafra land,” the suspected NDA member said.
“We are starting a dance he cannot finish. We shall dance like vultures. He [Buhari] has dared to wake a sleeping lion, but I promise him this time around if he tries to step his foot in any community of the Niger Delta, in Biafraland, he will not go back alive. “Any Niger Deltan who will try to walk with Buhari shall also go to his grave that day. This is our assurance.”
The alleged militants also condemned the Nigerian security forces for shooting pro-Biafran demonstrators during commemorations to pay homage to the victims of the Nigerian Civil War on Monday. Police confirmed the deaths of 10 protesters and two police officers during clashes in Anambra state, claiming demonstrators were armed. Pro-Biafrans denied the allegations.
“The Nigerian government shot and killed our brothers. They showed us they are the monsters,” the man said.
He then urged all pro-Biafrans to pray for Nnamdi Kanu, the director of radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB], who is standing trial on six counts of treasonable felony charges.
Intelligence consultant David Otto believes NDA also has secessionist views, and this can explain their support for the Biafra cause.

"The Avengers could be that official military wing that IPOB and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (Massob) never had," he said.

"The direct threat to the life of the President may not be substantiated, but it is bold move for the Avengers. On the other hand, NDA could be teasing the government security services to overreact with more brute force – a move that will galvanise more hatred and distrust. These are signs of future uncertainty in the region – but how the government reacts will be key to peace or further chaos," Otto, who is the CEO of UK-based global security provider TGS Intelligence Consultants, continued.

"Some prominent ex militants of the Niger Delta region promised hell if their brother, then President Goodluck Jonathan, did not win the 2015 election. We are now seeing those threats manifesting in various shapes and sizes in the South East and South South."
